last painting of 2008

Here is that last painting for 2008. I did this for my good friend Shawn at Gypsy Isle Photography in Pensacola, FL. You need to check her work out – she’s fantastic! This painting was a little bit of a departure (OK a BIG departure from all of the dogs lately) and I am really excited about how it turned out. One thing that makes it so great, I think, is the color intensity in it. If you visit her website or blog, you will see that Shawn is a big fan of color and it translates well to painting. Anyway, here it is and here’s to a great, wonderful and peaceful 2009!

blog

my day job.

During the day, I work as a graphics specialist at a company called Buzzy Seeds. We make grow kits – you may have seen them in Target, WalMart, The Home Depot, CVS and other stores. The are complete kits that include  a container of some sort, seeds, soil and instructions. I bring this up only because Stephana Campbell, Account Specialist Extraordinaire (I think that makes her an ASE) has started a blog. So for all of my fellow bloggers, go visit!  HERE!

And to get you in the mood, here are a couple of amaryllis shots I took a couple of weeks ago (we get to grow stuff in the office – it’s fun!):

dexter.

I got to meet Dexter yesterday at Lenox Park in Atlanta. AL the time I was editing his session, I was thinking he embodies the word “exuberant”.  He was so full of life and didn’t let anything stop him. Plus, he is super cute! It was such a fun session, too! OK, enough from me. Here’s Dexter:

just one more post APRA painting post…for now.

I am getting ready to go to Delaware for a few days to visit my husband who is working up there so I won’t be able to post anything for a few days…so I just wanted to post a few more of the APRA paintings that are finished. Here they are:

Minnie (a.k.a. Minerva…see below wedding post for more of her):

Wilson:

Honey Bun (even though not an pug, still an APRA adopted rescue):

And Prince (another APRA rescue who has been adopted by the same family as Honey Bun):

family and yellow labs

I photographed a family – parents, two sisters and three yellow labs – over the Thanksgiving weekend.  One of the sisters and two of the yellow labs live in Atlanta and the rest of the family was visiting for the holiday, so they took the opportunity to have a family portrait session. The house was amazing – a great older house in Atlanta and the family was great to work with. And the labs are soooo cute! And we somehow scheduled the session in the best part of the day because later on it rained for the rest of the day. So it was a great session all the way around!

wedding…pug included.

I got to photograph a wedding about two weeks ago for the daughter of one of the APRA volunteers, and actually the bride is a proud pug mom to an APRA rescue. It was a great wedding – one of my favorites ever. I think you will be able to tell by these photos that the bride and groom were just really happy. It was one of the most stress-free events ever (well, at least for me as an observer…no bridezilla action here)! Just two really sweet people starting their life together. You will notice that Minerva (a.k.a. Minnie) the Pug was pretty much in the center of it all (she didn’t get to stay for the actual ceremony, though) and even her new dad had his formal picture taken with her. He even did a head tilt in honor of her (Minnie is an awesome head tilter)! OK…enough of my rambling. On to the pictures:
