So after our weekend of one-light discussions and all, after my great guests left, I decided to practice on plain ole’ white seamless paper with, of course, my dogs. (They really enjoyed all of the extra treats.) I really like the simplicity and clarity that you get. And I love the variation of expressions (since there’s nothing else really different!) that they have. I think the simplicity brings out the subtleties of the expressions. And I like that.










So Major is my little old man who usually avoids eye contact (or eye to camera lens contact) whenever I try to take his picture. For some reason, though, the other night he got a little hammy and it was so nice! I had been talking to my friend (the same one who told me I needed to do more studio-type stuff) and she said something about the picture being about the expression, not the background. And I think that is what happened with Major. His expressions were the thing that stood out – probably because he’s never really too expressive and it was totally different for him. Anyway, he did a great job and I think he’s such a handsome and silly little guy!
