update

As you can probably tell, I have not been posting. There’s a reason for this – I am not doing photography, at least as a business, anymore, and actually haven’t been for some time. I have decided that as much as I have loved doing it and loved meeting all of my great clients, I just do not have the time or passion for it that I used to. I am doing graphic design full-time and that seems to be taking all of the creative energy I have these days. So thank you to all of my clients and those who have commented on my posts and work. I am hoping to turn this into a personal blog at some point; when that will be, I don’t know. :)

you might have noticed….

New name, same blog. I will be sort of revamping everything in the next few months but I still plan on taking lots of pictures of dogs! I will be at the shelter tomorrow and at Alabama Pug Rescue and Adoption’s Pugs and Pumpkins in Birmingham on the 31st, so I am sure there will be some posts from those. If you are in the Birmingham area please come out and see us! There will be pugs and fun for everyone! It’ll be at Oak Mountain State Park in the Fishing Center from 12-4. It’s always a lot of fun!

this saturday….here’s your chance!

I will be at Intown Healthy Hound in the Grant Park area (across from the zoo) for pet portraits from 10am t0 2pm. Reservations are reccomended – please call 404.228.3898 to reserve a time slot for Saturday! We will be doing simple holiday portraits, or “every day” portraits – whichever you prefer. I’ll see you Saturday!

pugs and pumpkins planning meeting

I had to go to Birmingham this weekend (so no shelter pictures this weekend) for some other business that I will share later, but got to stay long enough to make it to the Alabama Pug Rescue and Adoption’s Pugs and Pumpkins planning meeting. This is an annual event held at Oak Mountain State Park near the Fishing Center. While this was just a planning meeting (the actual event will be on Saturday, October 31 from 1-4), there were enough pugs and a boxer…so I had plenty to occupy me and my camera. I loved all of these guys. They were just so sweet. It was a gorgeous day and I was lucky enough to spend it in a beautiful location with wonderful friends and sweet pugs (and a boxer). And speaking of Penny the boxer, she was such a sweetheart. She is a rescue as well, and even though she is in a very loving home, she’s still recovering. Kind of like post traumatic stress disorder, I guess. But she let me take her on a short walk, which was a big step for her, and she socialized more and more as the afternoon went on. All in all, a very good day.

…and saturday at the shelter.

We have noticed that there are so many black dogs at the shelter. I know that is a common problem, but it just seems like in the past couple of weeks it’s getting worse. And we noticed that we had quite a few this week who were just really scared. It was so sad. These guys would all be great pets – really, there was not one who was questionable, and they just want to be loved…I guess like us, huh? Anyway, it was a sort of sad week, but as usual, the dogs are beautiful. And condolences to Frank, who lost his beloved dog the night before we did these pictures, but came out to help these dogs anyway.

cody and lucy

Cody and Lucy are a couple of older dogs that I got the pleasure of meeting this past weekend. Those of you who know me know that I love the older dogs and these two were no exception. Lucy was so good – she did pretty much whatever we asked her to. She was a great model! And Cody…well, those eyes tell it all. He is a beautiful boy who was adopted quite a while ago and has been around longer than most greyhounds. So it was amazing to watch him. He was so willing to try so hard to please his mom and dad. And he did – he was an awesome model, too! So here they are, Lucy (German Shepherd) and Cody (Greyhound), two amazing and beautiful dogs.

the shelter in newnan this weekend

Another weekend with many different dogs, each one with sweet, soulful eyes (as always). I so look forward to doing this each week – it just really puts things into a different perspective after a week of work, daily problems, and all of the other things that take my attention and worry me. :) These dogs don’t ask for anything except a home and a person to care about them. And they are so happy for a little bit of diversion. My assistant, Frank, kind of got attached to the dog in the first photos. He was a sweet one, too, and would watch Frank from his cage when we were doing the others’ pictures. Sometimes they do that. It has happened when my son helped us one weekend…one particular dog just connected with him. He wasn’t able to get a dog at that time, but it was sweet to watch. (And luckily and happily, that particular dog did find a home.)

This post is really image-heavy…I just couldn’t leave anybody out.

Please visit the Newnan-Coweta Humane Society’s website for more information on any of these dogs.

This poor baby was so matted that you couldn’t see any legs and there were like pockets of matted hair all over – I can’t even begin to describe it…it was something like you’d see on TV. I am sure they have him all shaved and cleaned up, but it was so sad to see him like that  – all he wanted was some attention. Hopefully he’ll get a great home and lots of attention from now on…

newnan-coweta shelter this weekend.

I had been out of town two weekends in a row so hadn’t gotten to the shelter. And although I’ve had a blast traveling to Mississippi and Alabama, it was good to be back. Of course, there was a whole different group of dogs this week, just like every week. And as usual, there was a great variety. It never ceases to amaze me. Anyway, as always, if you are interested in any of these available, beautiful dogs (and cats), please visit the Newnan-Coweta Humane Society’s website

Just wanted to say thanks to my dogsitter and friend, Leonor, for helping out this week. My usual assistant, Frank, was unable to be there. We missed you, Frank – see you this Saturday!

Note about the cat: Most of you know I am not a “cat person” (although they are fascinating to watch…sadly I am allergic) but there was a cat (pictured below) that NEEDS a home badly. She’s been there for a long time and is soooo sweet. She just snuggled and loved on the person holding her and was just as sweet as any cat I’ve ever seen. It would be a horrible shame if she was euthanized so if you or someone you know is looking for a cat, she’d be a perfect one!

and also last weekend.

After Pugs on Parade, I was lucky enough to get to spend the night with some amazing APRA volunteers who have a houseful of pets – dogs, cats and birds. And of course, I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures since there were so many adorable subjects just milling around. :) And these pictures do not represent ALL of the animals…I missed the cats and didn’t want to embarrass the naked bird. And a couple of the dogs were either shy or I didn’t get really great shots of them. Oh well, a great excuse to go back and visit!

So, once again, thanks Ginny and David for the wonderful accommodations, great dinner, tasty wine, and for allowing my pack to hang out with your pack.
